As part of its commitment to making services more accessible, the Government of Canada is expanding passport services at Service Canada Centre locations across the country by May 2017. This will make accessing passport services more convenient as 93 percent of Canadians will be able to access in-person passport services within a 50 km distance of their home.
In addition to being able to apply for a passport at a Service Canada Centre, Canadians will now be able to have supporting documents such as birth certificates and certificates of citizenship validated and returned to them when they submit their application. Expanded services across Canada will also help to reduce wait times at offices providing passport services by offering more services at more locations.
The expansion has already started in certain Service Canada Centres and will be complete by June 2017. As passport services at all Service Canada Centre locations are implemented, Canada.ca will be updated to ensure that Canadians can have the information they need to start accessing the services as soon as they are available.
